Welcome to the new Skydance Studio Newsletter.
This year is already proving to be a year with exciting possibilities. I'll be leading a Grand Canyon rafting trip and a trip to the Galapagos in addition to museum shows, multimedia presentations, and wilderness outreach programs. Throughout it all, I will be happily busy doing what fulfills me most, exploring the natural world with my artistic eye and sharing that vision with others.
I feel the real job of a wildlife artist is to awaken people to the beauty and value of the natural world. When one can see the beauty of an area, they become attached to it at a wordless, purely emotional level. With that deep connection comes a realization of the value of the wildands and a recognition of our place within them.
From far away places, where I have walked the ice with the emperor penguins, to right here at home on the dusty gravel trails of my beloved Mojave Desert, nature never fails to astonish me and nourish me. It will always be a part of my journey as an artist to help people connect to the natural world, through sharing my images, art shows, and travels.
Those who dwell. . . among the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life. . . Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.
The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction.
